Sorry you had a bad “Fall”

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend! Last weekend, my mom fell in her yard. She went to the ER thinking she may have broken her arm. As she was there, we learned she would need surgery, as she needed a full elbow replacement, which would require a transfer by ambulance to another hospital. She had the surgery within 24 hours and was home a couple of days later. Well, she can't drive, she can't go to work, she can't cook or clean, so she is home being forced to rest, which she doesn't like at all. She has been a little down lately, so to cheer her up, I made this card.

RECIPE:
This card was made using an SVG file from MyScrapChick
I used all scraps of paper from my stash to complete this card.
The tree was cut from "Stretch My Imagination" at 4 inches
The little leaves were punched with a little leaf punch that I've had for ages!

May All Your Dreams Come True

My daughter is my little princess. She loves anything pink and girly (which I am secretly thrilled about) and loves her princesses! She loves wearing pink and has to have (in her words) pretty pants, a pretty shirt, and pretty shoes on every day. She cracks me up when it comes to dressing. I'm sure in years to come, this isn't going to be so cute, but I will enjoy it for now. She recently got into dressing up in "Pretty dress like princess," so we are hoping Santa brings all kinds of princess dress up clothes.

So, for my little princess, I made a princess page. I imagined it to have lots of sparkle, bling, and everything princess. It came out pretty much as I imagined it to be. I love when that happens!

RECIPE:
I used "Paper Doll Dress Up" to make the princess, castle, grass, and clouds.
The princess paper is from Michaels.
I used silver sparkles to add to the dress and crown to give it a shimmery look
I used silver Sparkles to outline the stars on the clouds.
To outline the clouds, I used my light blue Souffle pens.
I embossed the castle towers with my Swiss Dots folder
Clear gemstones (AKA Bling) was added to the crown, dress, and wand.

I have sent you an email. Congratulations!

Using a sketch to scrap

I make each of my kids an 8 by 8 book each year. Each page is a picture of them from that month. I journal all about what they did that month and the milestones they achieved. They each have a book from the day they were born. This is a big task to take on with little time, but I will someday give them their books and hopefully they will cherish them as much as I do.

I have been blog hopping looking for some simple layouts that would look nice in their books. I saw this one and it peaked my interest.

Here is a layout I completed using this sketch. I had never done stripes in the background, so I thought I would give it a try. Overall, I think it came out great!

A little bit of back scrapping here, but still love the stripes with the Halloween theme.

RECIPE:

Both pages are 8 by 8. The stamps were purchased from Michaels. The paper was all from my stash. The stripes were done with all scraps. The mats are 4.5 by 6.5 inches. I used pop dots to pop up the sentiments. The ink is from Colorbox.

I GIVE THANKS

I recently went to Plimoth Plantantion to visit the Pilgrims and the Native Americans. We had a wonderful day learning about how they lived and survived with such minimal resources. I thought I would share a few pictures of Plimoth Plantation. The Pilgrims has just had a plentiful harvest and were getting ready for a long cold winter. They had fires going in their homes and the Lady Pilgrims were cooking dinner for their families and the men were out gathering food, feeding the animals, chopping wood, and working in their gardens.

After visiting each of the Pilgrims houses, my clothes were sooty and the kids and I smelled like smoke. So, after a very exciting and fun day, I came home and took a shower and I have never been so thankful for a shower as I was on that day. I give thanks for them coming here and braving the ocean, braving winters with no heat or electricity and surviving on hardly any food.

That night, I got started on this layout:

We were also able to visit the Mayflower and have a tour of the ship. It was amazing to see how they came on this little ship packed with people and their few belongings. We also saw Plimoth Rock and took pictures of the rock. It's been 400 years, but that rock still attracts people from all over the world. So, I made sure I made a little rock and got it on the layout.

Here's a close up of the Pilgrim page:
